1 in 4 Experience Stress Related Mental Health Problems
-
Did you know that at any given time 1 in 6 people suffer from stress related mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorders and eating disorders?
Obviously “stress” is a term that can mean lots of different things – emotional stress, physical stress, mental stress – but the same response in the body and the nervous system occurs.
Oftentimes people feel there is nothing they can do about their stresses, however I am of the opinion that your stress can be managed and there are 6 things that any of us can modify in our lifestyles to alleviate the burden of modern life:
- Eat the right foods, and in the right quantities
- Exercise at the right intensity and balance our physical bodies
- Remain hydrated, drinking enough water relative to our own body
- Take time throughout each day to relax and allow our nervous system to rest
- Change the way our minds work so that we have positive and empowering thoughts, instead of limiting and negative beliefs
- And the place we can all start: Changing our breathing patterns!
I routinely have clients tell me they don’t have the time to exercise or even rest, and they don’t have the dedication to change their diet, but I tell them to start with their breathing. We all breathe approximately 30,000 times each day so it is important to do this correctly and it also takes no more time than breathing incorrectly!
Take advantage of a FREE, no obligation assessment and learn how to breathe correctly.
