What Do You Mean “Life’s Hard”?
-
Have you ever said that “Life’s Hard”? Or used the saying “It’s a hard-knock life”? How about, “It’s a tough old life”?
What do you think this says about your outlook on life?
Well it’s just my opinion but if I heard someone say these things (and I regularly do hear them) I would think that this person is negative, doesn’t believe in themselves, doesn’t love themselves, and has a lack mindset.
Would you agree or am I being a bit harsh? I know that we all have negative thoughts now and then, but I truly mean it when I say that we shouldn’t. We should have cautious thoughts – thoughts that take “danger” into consideration so you don’t hurt yourself. Not negative and disempowering thoughts.
My main focus is on getting people to smile, and to be happy with what they have. A very simple way of doing this is to turn every negative thought around into a positive one.
For example:
- When you are stuck in traffic and getting annoyed, tell yourself that it is teaching you a lesson in patience.
- When you lose your job, tell yourself that it is a great opportunity for you to now find a better job and move forward in your development.
- When you lose some money, tell yourself that at least someone else somewhere is benefitting from it.
I am sure you get the point. However some people just cannot be positive. I am sure you have met these people. You might even be one of these people. Sometimes depression and chronic negativity can be caused by chemical imbalances from nutrition or excess stress levels, but most often they can be solved through plain and simple positivity. Start by waking up each morning and saying “Thank you” for the Sun rising as it does every day. Just this one simple act of gratitude can send you many more things for you to be thankful for and positive about.
So, it’s time for you to start being positive. Turn that frame of reference that “life’s hard” into a positive statement of “life’s fun”, “life’s great”, maybe even “life’s challenging” if you like, but follow it up by saying “I like challenges!”
Not only will you change your internal stressors through this exercise, but you will also change your external stress too. You will perceive your outer world to be different, thus creating a different reality. You will also attract to you your dominant thoughts. Previously when you were focusing on life being hard, you were attracting other people, circumstances and situations that would make you believe that life is hard. Imagine life is easy and you’ll get the opposite.
But what if you slip up? What if you have a fit of rage and make a negative comment? Just turn it around as quick as you can. This is the true definition of being present. Being aware of how you are acting in each moment. And if you don’t like what you’ve got, it’s because of the way you’re acting. And if you don’t like the way you’re acting, change it!
What negatives have you turned into positives lately? Let me know below! The funnier the better!

I’ll start this one off…
I was recently on a very slow moving train and began to get annoyed that I would be missing my next client, but decided that it was a good opportunity to catch up on some much needed sleep!
I felt much better after this change in perception. And after getting some more sleep!
